a Spanish publication has some insider information about the upcoming M2 CS that we hinted at before. They didn’t mention the M2 CSL, but it appears they have the production details. See the translation below along with the original text and link to the full article. Bravo!

We can now reveal to you some more things about this future model, obtained from a VIN from a prototype used for testing manufactured in Leipzig, the same factory which produces the BMW M2.

This unit, destined for the United States, was painted in color “Silver Hockenheim”, a new paint that will be available in the color palette for this new version, and with seats upholstered in Dakota black leather pierced with blue stitching.

Those interested in this model should know that the German mark provides a production limited to one thousand units for the whole world (we at The Bimmer Times think this is a conservative estimate), with a numbered plaque that grants the status of exclusive unit, and that can be ordered from January 2018.

The first units will begin to be delivered as of May, as production begins in March. Only selected BMW M dealers will have a unit in their showrooms, as it is a model on demand.

As for the bodywork, BMW has expanded the range of colors for the new M2 CS. In our market, the standard M2 only has four colors available: Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Long Beach Blue and Mineral Gray. The CS version will add exclusive tones: Sunset Orange and Silver Hockenheim.

The same goes for the interior. While the M2 is only available with one option, the M2 CS will enhance the look of the interior of the Dakota black leather upholstery with contrast stitching in Polar Blue or Kyalami Orange and likewise the possibility of normal or perforated leather.

The BMW M2 CS will have a maximum power of 405 hp

As we have already told you on some occasions, the new BMW M2 CS will mount the 3.0-liter S55 petrol engine with a maximum power of 405 hp and an increase of 40 hp compared to the conventional M2 that mounts the gasoline engine TwinPower Turbo of six cylinders in line N55 that homologates a power of 370 CV. The S55 engine is equipped in the M4, knowing the components of the BMW M2 from the M4, there will be fewer reasons to buy the latter.
